Door Closers

A door closer is a mechanical device that regulates the speed and action of a door's swing.  Manual closers store the force used to open the door in a type of spring and hydraulic to close the door.  Door closers come in many different configurations, including surface mounted onto the door or concealed into the door header.

Surface vertical rod Exit Device

Surface vertical rod exit devices are commonly used on double doors or those with multiple latching points, vertical rod exit devices provide secure closure with efficient panic exit capabilities. Surface applied features rods that run vertically along the face of the door and retract when pushed.

concealed vertical rod Exit Device

Similar to surface vertical rod exit devices; Concealed vertical rod exit devices are designed to lock doors at two points when they close.  The rods are hidden inside the door, so they don't create a visible surface-mounted rod or metal wrap.  Concealed vertical rods are often used in places that require enhanced security and a streamlined look, such as schools, hospitals, and government buildings.

Rim Exit Device

Sometimes called a panic device or crash bar.  A rim exit device is surface-mounted on the door, with the latch projecting from the exit device rather than the door edge.  This is the simplest configuration of panic hardware, and the easiest to maintain.  Rim panics can be used on a single door or on a pair of doors.

Sweep Strips

A sweep strip, also known as a door sweep or weather-stripping, is a long, narrow strip of material that's mounted to the bottom of a door to seal gaps and prevent drafts, dust, and pests from entering; sweep strips can be made from a variety of materials, including rubber, felt, foam, metal, or vinyl. They can be installed on any door, but are especially beneficial for exterior doors.

Benefits of sweep strips include:

  • Lower energy costs: Sweep strips block drafts that can drive up heating and cooling costs.
  • Keep out pests: Sweep strips can help keep unwanted critters like mice, rats, flies, ants, termites, and roaches out.
  • Protect from water damage: Sweep strips can help prevent water damage to your entryway, such as wood swelling, carpets getting soaked, and mold growth.

Kick and push plates

Kick and push plates are flat plates that are installed on doors to protect them from damage and wear & tear caused by pushing to open the door. They are often made of metal or an alloy.  These plates can be installed on both sides of swinging doors, or on the push side of one-directional doors. They can also be used on doors that don't latch. Kick and push plates are commonly used in high-traffic areas, such as offices, hospitals, and public buildings.

Kick and push plates can:

  • Protect the door: Prevent the door's finish from being damaged by oils from your fingertips.
  • Add durability: Protect the door from wear and tear caused by frequent use.
  • Add a custom look: Push plates can be used with door pulls to create a custom look.
